With a two-digit growth figure for the past financial year, the Cayman Islands' General Registry said it has appointed six new staff who are well prepared to serve the public. Active companies registered in the Cayman Islands are up 10 percent in 2007 (87,230 companies), as compared with the year before (79,227 companies).

In addition, there was 16 per cent growth in the registration of new companies in the Cayman Islands. A total of 13,103 new companies were registered in the 2006/7 financial year, as compared with 11,306 new companies for the previous year.

The new staff members at the General Registry are Cindy McField-Bonthorne, Denise Delpesh, Joanne Johnson, Flossiebell Mereta Maragh, Tasheka Mascal and Yendi Parchman.
Ms McField-Bonthorne takes up the position of Customer Liaison Officer to deal with births, deaths and marriages. She is a University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) graduate and former employee. She worked in customer service in the hospitality industry in Grand Cayman and the UK for the past eleven years.
Ms Delpesh, the new Financial Administrator, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from Trinidad and Tobago where she was the Treasury Accountant for the biggest power generation company.
After moving to Cayman in October 2005, and prior to joining the Registry, she worked on a fixed assets project with the core finance team in the Ministry of District Administration, Planning, Agriculture and Housing.
Ms Johnson now becomes Personal Assistant to the Registrar General Delano Solomon. She will provide secretarial and administrative support to the Registrar General. Originally from the UK, Ms Johnson previously lived in Grand Cayman from 1999 to 2003. During those years, she worked as the Personal Assistant to the late Dan Tibbetts (son of Linton Tibbetts, owner of Cox Lumber), owner of Danlin Construction, Little Cayman Beach Resort, The Club on Little Cayman and Red Carpet Realty.
Ms Maragh, the newly appointed Assistant Registrar, has joined the Civil Service with 22 years of accounting experience and four years as office manager in the private sector.
Ms Mascal has been appointed Customer Service Officer. She previously worked at the Shipping Registry where she was a Client Service Officer for both the Registration Department and the receptionist area. Her home country is Jamaica.
Ms Parchman was recently appointed Customer Liaison Officer dealing with births, deaths and marriages. She is a former 911 emergency dispatcher who comes to the department with 10 years of computer experience.
