Celebrating 18 years in the Cayman Islands Ogier Law Firm marked the occasion with a cocktails and canapés party at their new location on 89 Nexus Way, Camana Bay last Thursday.
Ogier is one of the world’s leading providers of offshore legal and fiduciary services.
A number of professionals from government and the private sector came out to celebrate with Ogier. Attendees included Deputy Governor, Donovan Ebanks, Deputy Chief Secretary, Franz Manderson, Chief Magistrate Margaret Ramsey-Hale, President of the Cayman Islands Directors Association, Paul Harris and Bob and Suzy Soto among others.
Ogier Managing Partner James Bergstrom noted that the organisation has gone through many changes, starting from Ian Boxall & Co. in 1991 with five staff to the Ogier of today with 140 staff members.
“Despite challenging economic times, Ogier has experienced significant growth in a number of teams, especially in litigation and restructuring and insolvency under the leadership of Chris Russell, and of our fiduciary services business under Balan Murugesu,” Mr Bergstrom said.
“We are committed to Cayman, as should be evident by our move to new offices at Camana Bay and the potential for growth that they provide.” he added.
Ogier specialises in international finance and corporate law. The firm has extensive experience in investment funds, asset finance, capital markets, structured finance, international trusts, and commercial litigation.
The firm also has other offshore offices in Bahrain, British Virgin Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Ireland, Jersey, London, and Tokyo.
Ogier prides itself on being a firm of distinction and they are the winners of a number of awards in 2009. Ogier won the Top Offshore Law Firm - Alpha Awards, The IFC Legal Team of the Year - STEP Private Client Awards, Overall Private Funds Law Firm of the Year - ACQ Global Awards, Best Offshore Law Firm - HFM Week Service Provider Awards, and the Offshore Law Firm of the Year - Citywealth Magic Circle Award.
