New attorney for Quin & Hampson/Mourant

Edward Devenport was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands on Wednesday, 15 August

 

 

Charles Quin, QC, Senior Partner of the newly merged firms of Quin & Hampson and Mourant du Feu & Jeune, moved the application before the Hon Mr Justice Hibbert.
Mr Quin recounted that Mr Devenport had received an Honours Law Degree at Birmingham University in 1986, then attended the Inns of Court School of Law in London and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1988.
Mr Devenport was admitted as a Jersey solicitor or "ecrivain" before the Royal Court of Jersey. He became a Partner of Mourant de Feu & Jeune and was head of the Trust Practice Area at Mourant from 2001 to 2004.
Mr Quin indicated that it gave him great pleasure to move Mr Devenport's application. Mr Justice Hibbert acceded to the application and indicated that Mr Devenport had chosen a good firm.
Mr Devenport replied and said it was pleasure to be called to the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and thanked His Lordship for his welcome.
Mr Quin confirmed to Mr Justice Hibbert that Quin & Hampson had merged with Mourant de Feu & Jeune on 16 July 2007 and present in court were litigation partner, Hector Robinson and corporate partner, Neal Lomax along with Mr Devenport's wife, Emma.
