Mr. McMillan joins Appleby

Appleby has promoted of Robin McMillan to the position of counsel within the group.

Mr. McMillan practises in the Cayman Islands office, is a member of the Litigation and Insolvency Practice Group and has over 30 years extensive experience.

Before joining Appleby in 1998, Robin worked in the Cayman Islands Government Legal Department as Crown Counsel. Prior to coming to the Cayman Islands, he spent over ten years in Bermuda as a senior government lawyer, acting in a number of high profile cases in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal, states a press release.

At Appleby, Robin specialises in international commercial litigation, insolvency, trusts, company law, judicial review and public law. He is believed to be a member of more Bars than any other Cayman Islands attorney. These include the Bars of the Cayman Islands, California, Northern Ireland, Hong Kong, Bermuda and England and Wales.

Robin is committed to training and mentoring Caymanian lawyers and regularly lectures at the Cayman Islands Law School. Robin is not only recognised as a leading member of the Cayman legal community, he has also been ranked in the PLC Cross Border Handbooks for Dispute Resolution as a Highly Recommended Individual, and for Restructuring and Insolvency as a Recommended Individual (2007/08). In addition, the Chambers Global hailed him as “outstanding” and a “very bright” lawyer in the Chambers Global Recommended Leading Law Individuals 2007.

Robin is a member of the Law Society Sub Committee considering the introduction of a Commercial Court in the Cayman Islands. He was previously a member of the Law Society Sub Committee that was considering the reform of the freedom of information law in the Cayman Islands.
