The Cayman Islands has finalised bilateral and tax information agreements with seven Nordic countries.
Leader of Government Business/Premier Designate Hon McKeeva Bush attended a signing ceremony on 17 June to sign the supplemental agreements at the Norwegian Embassy in Paris.
Mr Bush said, “These are supplemental commercial agreements to the main bilateral and tax information agreements which were signed in April 2009 in Copenhagen.”
The finalised agreements are between the Cayman Islands and the Nordic countries of Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Host of the signing ceremony and signing on behalf of Norway was Mathias Fredici Kristensen, Norway’s Royal Ambassador, who extended his appreciation to the Cayman Islands Government.
“I would like to congratulate the Cayman Islands on the signing of these agreements with the Nordic countries. These will eliminate double taxation on individuals and on international shipping and air transport, and will establish a mutual agreement procedure in transfer pricing cases,” Mr Kristensen said.
The signing of the agreements marks the completion of negotiations with the Nordic countries.
The Nordic countries make up a region in Northern Europe and far northeastern North America, called the Nordic region, consisting of Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden and their associated territories which include the Faroe Islands and Åland.
