In light of the current threat of Hurricane Dean, the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) has activated its business continuity plan.
Equipment and material at CIMA's Elizabethan Square offices are being secured and the Authority s primary offsite disaster recovery centre has been readied. The facility is located at Deloitte's Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC) at Citrus Grove, George Town, and houses CIMA's data replication systems, workstations and telecommunication equipment.
In addition to the DRC facilities, CIMA has a second layer of protection in the form of the Brac Informatics Centre (BIC) on Cayman Brac. There is ongoing back-up of critical data from the Authority to the two off-site locations so that information can be recovered and accessed if the computer systems at CIMA's Elizabethan Square offices become damaged or are made inaccessible.
Office Closure
CIMA's Elizabethan Square offices will be closed from noon today, Friday 17 August. Offices will not reopen until the NHC gives the All Clear and conditions permit.

The following is a list of Blackberry numbers at which members of the Authority can be reached while CIMA is closed, and satellite phone numbers that can be used in the event that land lines become inoperable:
