For the second consecutive year, FirstCaribbean International Bank has won the award for Best Bank in Barbados in the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2009 by Euromoney magazine.

The Awards of Excellence, acknowledged as one of the most prestigious in the banking industry, were announced at a gala dinner on Wednesday, July 8th in London, England. The dinner also celebrated the 40th anniversary of Euromoney Magazine and was attended by over 400 investment bankers from across the globe.

Managing Director Oliver Jordan expressed pride in the bank’s accomplishments and has again attributed the award to the dedication and commitment of all of the bank’s staff.

“That we have repeated this performance, particularly in these times of ongoing economic challenge, is a clear vote of confidence in our operations and sends a clear signal to our customers, staff and competitors,” he noted.

Since 1992, Euromoney, the world’s leading financial markets magazine, has singled out the outstanding institutions in finance. The Awards for Excellence now incorporate 25 global awards for banking and capital markets; and awards for the best banks and securities houses in almost 100 countries around the world.

All of the awards have one central theme, they recognise institutions and individuals that demonstrate leadership, innovation, and momentum in the markets in which they excel. Banks are required to submit their credentials for the awards which are analysed and reviewed by a committee of senior Euromoney journalists, chaired by the magazine’s editor, Clive Norwood.

All of the winners of the Euromoney Awards for Excellence are published in this month’s issue of Euromoney magazine.
