BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – FirstCaribbean International Bank has appointed Gerard Borely to the role of Managing Director for Corporate Banking. His appointment takes effect from 1 March 2008.
Mr Borely takes over the position from Horace Cobham, who recently moved on from the Bank after over 25 years of service, first to CIBC and then FirstCaribbean.
A Chartered Accountant, Mr Borely brings to the Corporate business over eight years of senior experience in FirstCaribbean. He previously served as Financial Controller and later, Chief Financial Officer.
A Trinidadian, he is a fellow member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (United Kingdom) and a registered member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr Borely is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School having completed the Advanced Management Program in 2005 where he was exposed to the latest management best practice.
On his appointment to his new role, Mr Borely said: “I have had the distinct pleasure of witnessing the growth of our Bank into a leading industry player. I therefore see my shift from a financial perspective to a more people-centric and customer-oriented one as an opportunity to further assist in delivering on our brand promise of Get There. Together.”
Chief Executive Officer, Charles Pink, to whom the Managing Director will report, said: “Gerard is no stranger to FirstCaribbean as he is already a member of our Executive Leadership. We are certain that he will bring a unique experience to his new role. His particular knowledge of, and vast experience in Finance will stand our Corporate team in good stead to structure excellent facilities for our Corporate clients.”
