The Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) recently led a delegation of Cayman Islands’ aviation related entities attending the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) tradeshow at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida.
The objective of attending NBAA is to promote the Cayman Islands Aircraft Registry and associated business services. This was the 62nd Anniversary of NBAA and attracted 22,920 attendees and 1,075 exhibitors over the three-day period, October 20-22, 2009.
The CAACI traditionally attends this annual tradeshow which features all facets of the aviation industry with exhibitors such as aircraft manufacturing companies, leasing companies, aircraft brokers, management companies, airlines, charter operators, airports, aviation related service firms including legal, financing, insurance firms, FBO’s, to name a few. Each year the CAACI’s booth draws interest from existing and potential clients of the Cayman Islands Aircraft Registry.
Attending with the CAACI in 2009 were representatives of local private firms Appleby Global, Maples and Calder, Island Air, Cayman Maritime promoting the registration of yachts and included general destination materials from the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
Also partnering with the CAACI on this initiative were local companies Cayman Airways, Tortuga Rum Company, Boatswains Beach, Lobster Pot, and the Westin Casuarina Resort who donated giveaways and prize offerings.
Director-General of Civil Aviation, Mr. Richard Smith commented “Even with the current global economic situation, the NBAA tradeshow was a strong forum to key strategic meetings to occur this year,” He continued, “The CAACI has over the past six years built a strong presence at key industry tradeshows and we are actively sought out by clients/ potential clients of the registry and others that interact with the registration process such as financiers, legal advisors, manufacturers and aircraft operators. This year despite the depressed financial markets we experienced three very interactive days filled with vital meetings.”
