George Town, Grand Cayman, (May 2009) – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) exhibited for the fourth consecutive year at the European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (EBACE) tradeshow in Geneva, Switzerland, promoting the Cayman Islands Aircraft Registry. This year, the show exceeded all expectations, despite the global economic downturn, and became the third- largest EBACE ever with an attendance of 10,917 registered attendees. This included an overall total of 411 exhibitors occupying 1900 booth spaces, and a static display of 65 business aircraft at the nearby Geneva International Airport. In Addition, the show provided exhibitors and attendees with seminars showcasing the value of business aviation. EBACE continues to be the flagship event for the business aviation community in Europe but it also attracts participants from Africa, Asia, the Middle East and North America as well.
Joining the CAACI to present a well rounded view of financial asset management options for the jurisdiction were Jason Collings of the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry UK/European Office, Sherice Arman and Caroline McCann of local law firm Appleby, with representation materials provided by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism’s UK/European office.
The C. I. Aircraft Registry is an increasingly attractive registry of choice for foreign individuals and corporations. With approximately 178 aircraft registered (from manufacturers such as Gulfstream, Boeing Business Jet, Airbus Corporate Jet, Embraer, Dassault Falcon, Cessna Citation, Bombardier Global Express, etc.,) aircraft owners and brokers have voiced their pleasure at the process of registering an aircraft on C. I. Aircraft Registry.
Director-General of Civil Aviaiton Authority, P. H. Richard Smith comments, “Despite the current economic times we were pleased to still receive feedback from clients, potential clients and key influencers such as legal experts and financiers, which focused on their preference for a credible jurisdiction such as the Cayman Islands.” He continued, “The client confidence was strong as we discussed options for owners of aircraft to take advantage of the plethora of services that the Cayman Islands has to offer.”
Each year the CAACI partners with the local business community to offer a prize package for raffle at EBACE and this year thanks to the contributions of Cayman Airways, Tortuga Rum Company, The Westin Casuarina Resort Grand Cayman, Grand Old House, Dolphin Cove, and Cayman Islands Helicopters, one lucky aviation business associate was awarded a holiday package.
