The legal risks, immunities and responsibilities of financial regulators will be the focus of discussion when legal advisers of these institutions meet in Grand Cayman this Thursday and Friday, 24-25 May.
The occasion is the Eighth Biennial Regional Central Bank Legal Seminar, being hosted by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority at the Marriott Resort. It brings together some 40 participants from central banks and other financial regulatory authorities in 14 countries across the region. The delegates are mainly legal advisers to financial regulators but other regulators and persons from related fields as well as a number of academics will also participate.
Presentations and discussions will address trends, challenges, impacts and implications regarding such issues as central bank immunity; the single regulator for the financial industry; international regulatory cooperation; risk based supervision; anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism, and the conduct of money laundering prosecutions.
