Grand Cayman (20 September 2008) – The Cayman Islands Financial Services Association (CIFSA) and the Active Group, an international financial services firm with a new subsidiary in the Cayman Islands have thrown their support behind a unique half day seminar to be held at the Ritz Carlton on October 15th.

The seminar will feature Mr. Tim Ridley, former Chairman of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, Mr Ross Delston, former US Federal Regulator and Co-Chair of the American Bar Association’s International Anti-Money Laundering Committee and Mr. Paul Byles former Head of Policy of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.

“CIFSA is pleased to be a sponsor of this event because it is unique in its focus on improving the relationships between regulators and industry professionals and that is why we decided to support it. Any function that aims to improve the industry’s understanding of how best to handle regulatory issues is good for the overall health of the financial services industry “, says Eduardo Silva, Chairman of CIFSA.

Among the highlights of the seminar will be a special presentation from Mr Tim Ridley, former Chairman of CIMA on how compliance professionals, internal auditors and managers can better understand the interface between the responsibilities of the regulator and those of their respective financial institutions.

The event’s Premium Sponsor is Active Services (Cayman) Ltd, a local subsidiary of the Active Group which provides business support services through a team of 50 specialists in Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man, Cayman and Dubai.

“This seminar is a very valuable initiative and Active is very pleased to be the major sponsor” said Mr Ian Patrick of Active Group. “The seminar’s aim of improving the effectiveness of local financial institutions in the area of regulation and compliance fits well with Active’s own service offerings to the Cayman market and has overall benefits to the Cayman Islands industry as a whole” added Mr Patrick.

The event will not only be valuable to compliance professionals and internal auditors, but also has direct relevance to senior management.

Mr Byles thanked CIFSA and the Active Group for supporting the event which is being held on October 15th at the Ritz Carlton and encouraged participants to register early at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
