Underlining its dedication and long term commitment to staff training and development, Walkers has transferred a valued team member from the Cayman Islands to its Hong Kong office.
Caymanian, Venesha McLean, transferred to Walkers' team of Corporate Administrators in Hong Kong earlier this month. Significant growth in the jurisdiction over the past year and high demand for registered office and corporate secretarial support from Walkers' Asian clients has resulted in the need for an expanded team there. Venesha joined Walkers' Corporate team in Cayman in August 2007 as an experienced Administrator from Citco Trustees and Fund Services.
She has a law degree from the University of Westminster in London and also studied for her Professional Practice Course in the UK. This is a particularly exciting move for Venesha, who loves traveling and has always been interested in the culture and languages of Asia, having studied rudimentary Japanese. When this opportunity was presented, she jumped at the chance to experience a new culture as well as improve her language skills.
Venesha will spend two years in Hong Kong and her ultimate aim is to gain articles with Walkers. She also intends to study for a Masters Degree in Hong Kong to further enhance her qualifications. Nancy Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Walkers' Trust Group commented: "We are delighted to be able to complement our Hong Kong team by transferring a young Caymanian.
Secondments for local staff to our overseas offices demonstrate our commitment to investing in their personal development whilst at the same time benefiting the business as our staff gain multi-jurisdictional experience which enables us to excel in the markets in which we operate." Hugh O'Loughlin, Managing Partner of Walkers' Hong Kong office added: "We are very pleased to welcome Venesha to our team. She has excelled with Walkers in Cayman and with a buoyant market environment in the Asian region at present, the skills and expertise she has developed to date will be put to good use."
