Walkers Funds Services has hired erstwhile Baring Asset Management official Andrew Edgington.

The offshore hedge fund-service provider said Edington will serve as vice president.

Cayman Islands-based Walkers has in the last year doubled its staff. In addition to Edgington, Alison Martinson, Abali Hoilett, Isatou Sey and Yeaneka Gordon have all joined the company.

Walkers added the personnel to help it keep pace with its client base, which has grown 35% in the last year.
Edgington headed product development for London-based Baring Asset Management and has also worked for Gartmore, Invesco and Northern Trust Corp. He said his new job will give him the chance to put his marketing background to work in what he called the most active hedge fund jurisdiction in the world.
