Cayman Islands Continues Captive Market Growth: Formations Up 93 Percent

(Grand Cayman- 28 October 2011) Third quarter figures from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) show the continued resilience of Cayman’s captive insurance sector. CIMA licensed 29 captive insurance companies in the first nine months of 2011, 14 more than during the same period in 2010. The total number of captives in the jurisdiction at 30 September 2011 stood at 730.

‘A’ for Appleby: Anthony Hurlston and Zachary Powery Receive Highest Grades Yet

Appleby-sponsored A Level students Anthony Hurlston and Zachary Powery are the first to achieve ‘A’ passes in the AS Law course. Graduates of John Gray High School, Anthony and Zachary enrolled in the AS and A Level programme at St. Ignatius Catholic School last academic year and are now in the second year of the programme. The law course, exclusively sponsored by Appleby, endeavours to provide participating students with a thorough understanding of how law is created, administered and changed, including how to analyse problematic situations and apply appropriate legal rules and principles.
